“Your Song of Excellence” new season goes “twice” as grand in musicality and excellence

IT’S been three slam-bang seasons already for musical competition “Your Song of Excellence,” but this year’s edition, co-presented by premier partner Derma Angel Philippines, will be “twice” in size and grandeur, and aptly called “Your Song of Excellence: Duo Legacy!”

 

This year’s version is perfectly titled since “Your Song of Excellence: Duo Legacy” will present twice the power of vocal quality and innovative musicality of Filipino musicians, from singer-songwriter partners, instrumentalists and singer-couples, to passionate pairs of singers and songwriters who aspire to leave their legacy and raise the bar of excellence in the local music scene.

 

And just like before, “Your Song of Excellence: Duo Legacy” will be brimming with an array of exceptional musical talent where once again, the Filipino brand of music that’s renowned globally will take centerstage, coupled with exciting prizes and extraordinary products from the show’s sponsors that await the winners.

 

Tasked to do hosting chores for this year’s “Your Song of Excellence” will again be Nicole Laurel Asensio. She is also an accomplished singer-songwriter who has an established musical foundation honed to perfection, being part of a family that has made a name in the world of music and theater in the Philippines.

 

For this year, there will be a new face that will grace the roster of familiar names in the local music world who will act as judges but also as mentors for this year’s competition. Singer-songwriter Kean Cipriano, the former premier vocalist of pop-rock band Callalily, and who is now also a solo artist with his own music label, will also be having the unenviable task of choosing the next big singing-songwriting duo in the local music scene.

 

Kean will join singer-composer and pop-rock artist par excellence Yeng Constantino, exceptional music producer and songwriter Paulo Zarate, and singer-songwriter, actor and director Ice Seguerra. Their task of choosing from the roster of singing-songwriting aspirants will be made twice as difficult, but winning this year’s competition will be definitely twice as rewarding for the lucky winning pair.

 

“We have been holding ‘Your Song of Excellence’ for the past three seasons already, twice of it held online, but the response in terms of musicians auditioning and the level of competition has remained overwhelming. This year will not be different and in fact will be twice as exciting in the display of Filipino ingenuity, musical creativity, and world-class talent, values that we share in terms of espousing a world filled with innovation through Taiwan Excellence. Definitely, this season will be breathtaking to watch,” explains Alex Lai, Director of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

Taiwan Excellence crowns Newest Grand Champions of Your Song of Excellence Season 3

 

Your Song of Excellence culminates its 3rd season with a group photo of the Grand Finalists with the Celebrity Judges & Host, and the VIPs from Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines, Taiwan External Trade Development Council, and Taiwan Trade Center Manila who made the event possible.

Your Song of Excellence 2023 – Taiwan Excellence’s search for the Philippines’ best singers and songwriters co-presented by Aromase, Derma Angel, and Johnson Fitness & Wellness – culminated its third year run last Saturday, November 18 at the Ayala Malls Market! Market! in  Taguig City.

 

The Live Grand Finals Event bore witness to a celebration of outstanding Filipino talent, with the Top 3 Grand Finalists from both Singer Category and Songwriter Category fighting their way to the bitter end. Before battling it out on the big stage, the Finale opened with an energizing performance of the Your Song of Excellence 2023 jingle by the Celebrity Judges Yeng Constantino, Arthur Nery, Ice Seguerra, and Paulo Zarate.

This Grand Finals performance round for the Singer Category was nothing short of amazing with 3 powerhouse performers who have been molded by their respective singing journeys, with each of their roads leading to the Grand Finals stage. In the end, Julius Cawaling came out triumphant with two equally hair-raising performances, beating 1^st Runner Louise Alivio and 2^nd Runner Up Alyssa Erasquin to the win, and what a close race it was.

Another close race was the battle for Grand Champion in the Songwriter Category. It was finally time for the Final 3 Songwriters to present their fully realized Grand Finals songs in front of a big crowd. Through their partner singers, these talented composers fought their way through their creative storytelling and melodies, with every lyric tugging at the heartstrings of the audience. Coming out on top from the Songwriters is Lyndon Nagar winning over 1^st Runner Up Juls Burce and 2^nd Runner Up Popa Elorde.

Helping to present the awards to the winning contestants were VIPs, Mr. Dustin Yang, Minister of Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines, Mr. Alex Lai, Director of Taiwan Trade Center Manila, Ms. Christine Kuo, Manager of Taiwan Trade Center Manila, Ms. Janine Tan, Senior Project Manager of Taiwan Trade Center Manila, Ms. Yvonne Hsiao, Project Manager of Taiwan External Trade Development Council, and Ms. Valerie Lin, Project Manager of Taiwan External Trade Development Council, making the event even more special with their esteemed presence.

 

The Grand Champions received a P50,000 cash prize and P50,000 worth of products each. The 1^st Runners Up won P30,000 cash prize each while the 2^nd Runners Up won P20,000 cash each, as well as P50,000 worth of products each runner up.

World-class Filipino Talents to judge Your Song of Excellence Season 3!

 “YOUR SONG OF EXCELLENCE,” organized by Taiwan Excellence and co-presented by Aromase, Derma Angel, and Johnson Fitness Philippines, is back on its third season this year, and promises to be even bigger, bolder and grander than ever, with celebrity judges Yeng Constantino, Ice Seguerra, Arthur Nery and Paulo Zarate. On its Season 3, the Contest is not just about singing, but songwriting is introduced. A great occasion to showcase true Filipino musical talent and ingenuity, where cash and product prizes await the winners.

Given the difficult task of judging this premier singing and songwriting competition are come-backing judges such as singer-composer and pop-rock royalty Yeng Constantino, music producer and songwriter Paulo Zarate from Season 2. Completing this year’s roster of judges are singer-songwriter, actor and director Ice Seguerra, and singer-songwriter and music heartthrob Arthur Nery, who are expected to give their own take on the display of singing prowess and songwriting acumen of this year’s contestants. Hosting “Your Song of Excellence” Season 3 is none other Nicole Laurel Asensio, a singer-songwriter whose also top-notch theater actress.

Those auditioning for the singing competition have to choose from any of the six (6) Taiwan Excellence Registered Songs, which can be found at bit.ly/YSOE2023AuditionSongs. Once a song is chosen, simply upload an Audition Video following this file name format - JuanDelaCruz_Audition.mp4.

Deadline for submission of audition entries is on September 15, 2023.
