Acer newest products and services announced at CIO Forum

Present to lead the introduction of the latest Acer products and services at the Acer CIO forum held recently were (from left) Sue Ong-Lim, Sales and Marketing Director, Acer Philippines; Lauren Yap, Acer Philippines Product Lead for Digital Display – Commercial; Carren Garcia, Channel Sales Manager – Commercial, Acer Philippines; Manuel Wong, Managing Director, Acer Philippines; Jeffrey Mariano, Acer Philippines Mobility Product Lead and Jofel Riofrio, Acer Philippines Product Manager for Commercial Products
Acer continues to value its relationship with its clients around the world. For many years, the company focuses on providing clients with services and innovative products that are not only excellent but provides added value at the same time.

Sue Ong-Lim, Acer Philippines Sales and Marketing Director, on the other hand, said that they started the CIO forum of Acer back in 2008 with the aim of building a solid client base for Acer’s Commercial Sales Group. Back then, attendees were focused on a “per industry” basis and only existing clients.

This year, however, Ong-Lim decided to mix it up by inviting attendees from mixed industries and also new and potential clients and gathered them in one venue. The client mix included representatives from the academe, government, telecommunications—all “loyal” industries that have regularly attended the forum—plus attendees from the manufacturing and retail industries.

With these, Ong-Lim slowly but surely grew the group. From a mere 5% contribution to Acer’s revenue, the Commercial Sales Group now contributes about 25% to Acer’s coffers.

(from left) Mon delos Reyes, Solutions Specialist, Windows 10 Devices, Microsoft Philippines; Manuel Wong, Managing Director, Acer Philippines;  Carren Garcia, Channel Sales Manager – Commercial, Acer Philippines; Sue Ong-Lim, Sales and Marketing Director, Acer Philippines; Ray Gozon, Sr. Marketing Manager, Acer Philippines and Joel Guzman, Partners Account Manager, Microsoft Philippines.
And to add further value to Acer’s commercial products, Mon delos Reyes, Microsoft Philippines Partner Account Manager, also mentioned the “digital revolution” that Microsoft is mounting and how Acer products, particularly those that use the Windows 10 operating system, will play into this revolution.

Acer Philippines Managing Director Manuel Wong, for his part, thanked the CIOs for their continued support during his welcome speech. He also pioneered Acer’s service-oriented philosophy where he introduced “on-site services” where Acer engineers will be deployed at clients’ offices in order to provide quick and better assistance. He also shared information on Acer’s new and innovative products that truly provide value to clients’ investments.

Live with the King

Throughout the course of history, man has always shown that he is a natural conqueror. Many wars ignited due to his desire to invade other lands and rule more people. The ambition to be the King is a journey a lot of men have trekked. A few have realized their dream while many died in vain.

It’s beginning to sound a bit Medieval and we’re starting to lose our grip to present times so let’s start talking about our fast-paced world, new discoveries and innovations which is what this blog is all about. While the device and manual on how to completely dominate the world is not yet commercially available, you at least have a chance to experience how it’s like to be a king. How? It’s easy--- live with the King.

For starters, make sure you have the right gadget with you. Let’s say, own something from Huawei Technologies, the largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer in the world. My recommendation is their latest offering dubbed as the King of Android, Huawei Nexus 6P.

I have listed down my top five favorite features of this pedigree phone. If you’re looking for the android phone that can best give you the royal treatment that you deserve, think about NEXUS:

Nice-looking iconic hardware design.  6P flaunts a premium design incomparable even to many high-end phones in the market today. It is entirely rounded out in glass and metal with some decent-sized bezels embedded around the front. It’s totally solid built. 3D curved glass… diamond chamfers… aluminium body… even a King can’t ask for more. And we have not even discussed what’s inside Nexus 6P: the latest version of the Octacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor and Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, making its performance faster than ever.

Ergonomic fingerprint ID. This Nexus 6P feature keeps the phone fast and secure. Just a touch on the sensor and you’ll have instant access to your favorite apps, photos/ videos, messages, and more even while on the go. You’ll be like a king that with just a snap of finger, everything you need will be served to you in a flash.

X-tra Fast charging. Battery life is something that many people consider when buying a smart phone. 6P has a long-lasting 3450mAh battery, enough to get you through the day. Now if you’re a King user, worry no more because this phone has a USB Type C port for super fast charging. Thus, you just need to pause for a short time to recharge your phone then back again to your royal duties.

Unbelievable stereo sound.  Even Kings need to party from time to time even in the comfort of his palace. Nexus 6P is loaded with a superior front-facing speaker that offers crisp and majestic sound. Whether you’re a sucker of Nat King Cole’s love songs or a headbanger every time you hear Queen’s We Will Rock You, 6P will forever whisper sweet nothings to your ear.

Stunning screen clarity. The King should always be clear and sharp.  6P offers a vivid 5.7" WQHD AMOLED display giving a stunning clarity with 518 pixels per inch. This is so compatible with its low-light loving, powerful camera. Its 12.3 MP rear lens is the best all-around camera ever used in a Nexus. The 8 MP front camera is just perfect for anyone who wants to have a selfie with the King.

Huawei Nexus 6P is one great gadget that can capture the hearts of Andoid phone fans. It can be your ultimate companion in your quest for new discoveries, adventures, and personal milestone. If you can’t be a king in real life, you can always live with the king.

Long live with the King!

Air conditioning myths debunked

Are you worrying over nothing when it comes to your AC unit?

As the temperature starts to rise this summer, most people turn once more to air conditioners to keep them cool during the season. However, with this comes the perpetual concern of ballooning electric bills caused by increased use of these home partners.

But how well do we really know this home staple? Below, we break down the most common myths about air conditioners.

Myth: I can’t use my AC the whole day because it will blow up my electric bills.
Fact: It depends on how you use the air conditioner and what kind of technology it has. A programmable thermostat can help keep your home at a comfortable temperature while conserving energy when it isn’t needed. Better yet, use a unit with a DC Inverter Technology like the Inverter Split Type Aircon (Primera) from global appliance manufacturer Midea.  The technology allows the AC to switch between the compressor and the fan after reaching ideal temperatures to save on energy.

Myth: The AC won’t run as much (and use too much electricity) if you use it with fans.
Fact: Fans do not cool air; they only help move it around the area. Though they may help lower body temperature, they do nothing in managing the heat inside a room. Again, the key is to use the AC sensibly. Keep the thermostat at an efficient setting or get one with energy-saving features.

The Midea Genesis White Model, for example, has a Turbo DC Inverter that comes with a wide range of frequency and voltage to make it more efficient in saving energy. The feature switches from the compressor and the fan once the room has reached ideal temperatures to save on power. The compressor running uses the most energy, to it saves you money if it can be on standby mode.

Myth: AC units are very noisy and can disturb sleep.
Fact: Some air conditioners, mostly the older models, are the culprit behind this common issue. Other times, the unit simply needs servicing. To make sure you stay free from this problem, invest in an inverter split type unit designed to function without noise. Midea’s units have a Quiet Mode that promises a noise free performance.

The Genesis White model, specifically, has a large diameter cross flow fan that limits indoor unit noise by lowering the fan speed for the soundest of sleeps.

Myth: Your AC does not need to be serviced regularly.
Fact: Just like any other domestic appliance, air conditioners need time to breathe and rest. Regular service and maintenance can keep the unit running efficiently and smoothly and prevent sudden breakdowns.

It will help a lot if the AC is equipped with features that can clean and maintain itself. The Midea Genesis White, for example, has a Self Clean and Refrigerant Leakage Detection technology that keeps the unit free from molds and detects refrigerant leakage respectively.

Of course the importance of a good after sales service is also important. Professional maintenance, like the one provided by the Midea After Sales Service for all its inverter air conditioning units (Midea Genesis White, Mirror Black, and Primera) can ensure that the unit is supported by a good network for a worry free performance.

You do not need to sacrifice comfort just to keep electricity bills down. Find the right appliance with the right set of features and you are sure to keep your chill even during the hottest days of the year.
